The ribs near the ends of the canoe have a very tight turn radius.
These ribs are the most difficult to form and require adequate steaming for
pliability to avoid cracking them. This image also shows the spruce
root lashing sandwiching the inside and outside gunwale sections. Note
the temporary bracing in the tightly curled ribs.
