This is the steaming area. The black barrel is filled with water and heated by the heat from the fire beneath it. The pipe is introduced directly into the fire pit. Water is poured into the pipe and it will become quite hot. The strips are put into the pipe to make the cedar very elastic and easy to work with in the process of applying the planking and ribbing in the next phase of the project.
